Avonworth Education Support Professionals honored “Super Nolan” with a Trucks for Tots drive, collecting truck donations from across the community and delivering them to the Ohio Township Volunteer Fire Company to brighten the holiday season for children in need.

Student Ambassadors represented APC with excellence at the PBIS Student Summit, sharing insights about our program and bringing back new ideas to strengthen our school community.

Congratulations to our recently elected board members! 

Adam Livingston, Jessica Oplalko-Pfister and Justin Panuski are all new to the Avonworth School Board. Amy Tokar is a returning board member. All four recently took their oaths, administered by Judge Michele Santicola.

Avonworth Primary Center held a spirited pep rally to cheer on the Lopes football team as they head to the 3A WPIAL Championship.

The Avonworth School District community is invited to take part in Trucks for Tots, a special service project held in loving memory of Nolan Przybysz. Nolan was an Avonworth student known by many for his bright spirit, kind heart, and his absolute love of trucks — a joy he shared with everyone around him.

With Thanksgiving approaching, we enter a time of year when the weather could impact our school schedule. As we prepare for the possibility of weather-related delays and closings, we want to make sure families are as prepared as possible.  

Avonworth Primary Center welcomed more than 50 Veterans for a morning of celebration, including a breakfast, parade, student performances, and the announcement that students met their Stuff the Stage donation goal in support of Veterans in need.

For many reasons, Avonworth families may be in need of support right now and the Avonworth School District wants to help. If you or your family are in need of support, completing the form linked below will help us focus on the needs of our families and plan how we can help.

At every game in November, the Avonworth Hockey Club team will collect canned/dry foods to donate to our local food pantry. 

As you may recall from a communication shared in August, TMX Compliance is going out of business. The district previously used TMX to house volunteer clearances.

We are excited to share that a new volunteer system is now in place for the district - Raptor VolunteerSafe.

Kindergarten students at Avonworth Primary Center explored the world of mammals through a hands-on presentation from Fern Hollow Nature Center, supported by the Avonworth Fund for Educational Excellence.

Avonworth Primary Center second graders explored ecosystems and insects through hands-on learning, culminating in an engaging entomology presentation from Fern Hollow Nature Center supported by the Avonworth Fund for Educational Excellence.

Avonworth School District has been recognized by the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank as a 2025 Child Hunger Hero for its exceptional efforts to support food security and ensure students have access to nutritious meals.

Avonworth Primary Center students in Grades K–2 learned important fire safety lessons during a Fire Prevention Month visit from local firefighters, EMS personnel, and several proud Avonworth alumni.

Avonworth School District has been recognized by the Pennsylvania Art Education Association as an Outstanding Visual Arts Community for 2024–25.

The generous support of the Avonworth Fund for Educational Excellence (AFEE) continues to enhance educational opportunities for students and faculty.

Tickets for all ASD athletic events can be purchased in the athletic office Monday-Friday from 9am-1pm. The cost for tickets purchased in the athletic office is $2 for students and $3 for adults.

The Avonworth Antelopes will face the Thomas Jefferson Jaguars this Friday, September 12th. Kickoff is at 7:05 pm with the pre-game events starting at 6:40 pm. 

Avonworth School District is one of two local districts selected to join the News Literacy Projects District Fellowship Program.

The three-year fellowship provides $30,000 grants and customized support to implement news literacy education districtwide, ensuring all students learn to think critically and engage responsibly with the news and information.

Avonworth Primary Center is proud to launch its new Student Ambassador Team, with one second-grade leader from each homeroom chosen to represent classmates, support PBIS initiatives, and serve as role models for the school.

Josh and Gab kicked off the school year at Avonworth Primary Center with an engaging program to launch PBIS through music, laughter, and positive messages.

Avonworth School Board President John Brandt was honored by PSBA for 10 years of service and Board Member Pat Stewart for 20 years, recognizing their dedication to students, schools, and the community.

Congratulations to Becky Marszalek on being selected as Pennsylvania’s 2026 recipient of the Travelers Insurance Award for Teaching Excellence from the NEA Foundation, honoring her exceptional leadership, teaching excellence, and positive impact on the community.

We want to make you aware of an important update regarding our volunteer clearance tracking system. We were just notified that TMX Compliance will cease all support operations effective August 31, 2025.

If you would like to keep copies of your clearances for your records, please log in to your TMX Compliance account and download them prior to this date.

We're thrilled to share that Avonworth’s own Hallie Camacho will be making her professional theater debut as “Young Anna” in Disney’s FROZEN, the Broadway Musical!

Hallie will take the stage at the Benedum Center in downtown Pittsburgh from July 18–27, performing in all local shows except Friday, July 25. After the Pittsburgh run, the production heads out on tour for the rest of the summer.

"On a wintry evening earlier this year, Avonworth School District, home to approximately 2,000 students in Allegheny County, hosted a graduation party. It included the typical pomp — clusters of balloons in school colors, streamers, graduation caps — but the circumstance was wholly unusual. This party feted the class of 2035, an experimental kick-off to a new strategic planning process that engaged students, staff, educators and community members in an exercise to think creatively about the future of learning in the district."
